Thank you to all the Friends and friends of Friends who attended our first branch meeting this year. It was great to see some new faces, and some “old” faces too! A positive start to the year indeed.

Margaret Foy and I reported on the Inaugural ABC Public Meeting held at the Ultimo studios on the 9^th Feb. We found it to be a highly scripted and “slick” affair with presentations by several ABC Board members, including Managing Director Michelle Guthrie. Questions from the public were limited, and chosen as representative of the major concerns of ABC consumers. You can still watch the event on-line. Definitely worth watching!

As revealed at our meeting, we anticipate a very interesting year ahead, with opportunities for us to be involved in local and state ABC Friends activities. We are encouraged to lobby our politicians regarding the future security and direction of our ABC. (The ABC Friends NSW/ACT website provides lots of helpful information.)

Kumi Tagatchi, Compass presenter, has accepted our invitation to be Guest Speaker following our AGM in November. Please mark Saturday 17^th November in your diary!

ABC luminaries Matt Peacock, Jeremy Fernandez and Damien Beaumont of Classic FM have also been invited to be guest speakers. Dates are yet to be confirmed. We will place notices in the Gazette prior to these events.

Our BM branch newsletter, courtesy of Barry and Bev Redshaw, continues to keep us up to date with media reports concerning the ABC and “Snippets On The Run”. Essential reading!

Looking forward to seeing you at our next Branch Meeting on St Patrick’s Day, 17^th March, 10.00, at The Grandview Hotel, Wentworth Falls. You may wish to stay for lunch (great bistro menu) and chat with fellow ABC Lovers!
